Google Lens rolled out major update for Windows users
While you are busy Googling, Google has secretly launched an amazing feature for desktop users. Google Lens—Search What You See is Google’s treasured application solution for every device: Android mobiles, iOS, desktops, iPads, etc. The soundest feature of this technology is that you don’t need to type or ask Google what a particular object is.
But now Google is making it more sophisticated and more easily accessible by allowing Windows users to search directly instead of uploading photos to the lens! You can search any image that you see over the internet, anywhere; webpages, images, stories, paintings, etc without uploading it to search lens!
Yes, the search with Google Lens on Windows received a major update. Traditionally, Windows users upload a photo saved on their desktop or drag the photo to Google Lens, as shown in the screenshot below.
In either case, you must have an image or have to save an image to your device first. But this is not the case with the new feature of Google Lens. With the latest update, Google Lens has become more powerful and easily accessible for Windows users.
Note – This feature is not officially launched by Google but it is available on all Windows; I found it while I was searching on Google. You can easily access this feature by following the steps below.

How to Use New Google Lens Update on Windows
The latest update by Google Lens is automatically rolled out to all Windows users and can be accessed through Google’s menu. When you open Google on a desktop, it starts a new page about “What’s New” on Google, however, if you don’t get that option, follow the below steps to leverage the benefit of Google Lens –
- Open the Google browser on your desktop or Windows device.
- Click on the menu button at the top-right corner of the browser (three dots menu)
- Scroll down, you will see the “Search with Google LensNew option, click on it.
- It will show up a popup with the message “Search anything on this page with Google Lens”.
- Click on the continue button; it is a one-time process.
- Once you click on the continue button, it will show you a plus (+) icon to drag and capture the screen.
- Whenever you click on the search with the Google Lens option, it will lead you to the capturing screen.
- You can anywhere move the cursor and capture that screen and Google will automatically start showing the results for this screen.
- Even after capturing the screen, you can move the cursor, and make any changes to the captured screen.
- Also, if you are capturing any textual screen, Google Lens allows you to “copy the text” and “translate the text” options.
- These features are almost the same as we have been using on Android devices for a long time.
- However, Google Lens for Windows update comes with an advanced feature – Activate once, use many times.
- It means you can search many times and as much as you want till you close that screen or page, you don’t need to go to Google’s menu to activate it.
Google Lens on Desktop Now Powered By AI
To assist users in searching their desired queries quickly, Google Lens update on Windows also powered its Lens with AI. You can search any image with Lens and ask any questions about that particular image like what is, how it works, etc. For clear understanding, I am embedding an example video by Google itself.
To take the benefit of its AI features, users have to install the extension of Google Lens to the Desktop. By clicking here you can add Google Lens extension to your desktop. Once downloaded, just click on the camera button in the URL section and it will start to show a + icon that you can drag anywhere on the screen.
Ask anything about the captured screen to Google Lens at the left sidebar. Whatever, you search or capture, will show to the right corner with an option to type.
You can ask as many questions as possible for a particular one until you get a clear answer. Even you can ask about any particular video, or any academic help (like formulae or concepts).

With the launch of the Google Lens update on Windows, search has become easier than it has ever been. Irrespective of how complex a problem is or how it difficult is to understand a particular image or concept, Google Lens for Windows update lets you search for anything quickly.
