Google.org Launches Its New Generative AI Accelerator Program

Google.org is now introducing its new Generative AI accelerator program to invest in startups and non-profits that leverage generative AI. With this AI accelerator program by Google, the tech giant is planning to fund $20 million in grants, including 21 nonprofit organizations.

According to Annie Lewin, Senior Director of Global Advocacy and Head of Asia Pacific, Google.org, “We are announcing the Google.org Accelerator: Generative AI, a six-month program supporting nonprofits developing high-impact applications of generative AI. Our first cohort includes 21 organizations focused on areas like climate, economic opportunity, health, education, and crisis response. In addition to technical training, workshops, mentors, and pro bono support from a dedicated AI coach, Google.org is providing more than $20 million in funding across the projects.”

As per the company, this funding will help the startups to tap into the field of generative AI as many of these companies are keeping their foot back from AI due to the lack of tools and resources. With this funding, these startups will now be able to take a step ahead and will contribute to the world of genrtaiveAI.

During this 6 months Accelerator program, the startups and non-profit will get their hands on technical training, workshops, mentors, and guidance from an “AI coach.” also a team of Google dedicated employees will work with three of the non-profit organizations to help them introduce their AI tools. These three non-profit organizations are Arjimly, Benefits Data Trust, and mRelief. Google employees will be working there full-time.

In a recent survey of Google.org, they found four out of five organizations found that AI can be very helpful and applicable to their dream projects but somewhere they are lacking due to the resources and tools.  Generative AI can help social impact teams be more productive, creative, and effective in serving their communities,” Annie Lewin, director of global advocacy at Google.org, said in a blog post. “Google.org funding recipients report that AI helps them achieve their goals in one-third of the time at nearly half the cost.”

Annie has also listed organizations that are selected for the AI accelerator program by Google. Some of these organizations are CodePath, CareerVillage, Beyond12, EIDU, Full Path, Climate Policy Radar, and many more. Google says that-” Generative AI can help social impact teams be more productive, creative and effective in serving their communities. In fact, Google.org funding recipients report that AI helps them achieve their goals one-third of the time at nearly half the cost.”
