Google Podcasts shut down, Shift to YouTube Music
If you are a podcast lover, then Google made a big change for you. You will no longer listen to your favorite podcast on Google Podcast Manager.
Recently, Google Podcasts shut down and users will no longer be able to listen to podcasts using the app. This application was released in 2018 by Google for Android devices and now from April 2024, it will be no longer available for users.
Google has announced that after 2 April, the users of the US will no longer be able to use the Google Podcast and the same will be applied for all users in all regions after June 24, 2024.
“After July 29, 2024, Google Podcasts Manager will no longer be available for users in all regions. Until then, you will continue to have access to Google Podcasts Manager and can export your analytics if you wish,” announced Cory Peter, a Google Employee.

This is not the first time Google has ended any of its services. Back in 2015, Google introduced “Google Wallet”, which was later killed for Android pay. Now Google is bringing satellite messaging support to Android 15, and saying bye to Google Podcast.
Google has now asked users to upload their RSS feeds on YouTube or YouTube shorts. With this step, Google is now shifting the users to YouTube Music. So that the users can experience both the audio and video music in one place.
However, this does not sound good for the podcast lovers. YouTube runs ads between the videos to earn money and it can disturb the experience of the users while they are listening to their favorite topics. Even when Google introduced its podcast app in 2018, it also highlighted the fact that ads can mislead users and disturb your experience, but now it is doing the same.
Even YouTube does not allow users to play background music if they do not have a subscription. For this users do not wish to pay $10 when they have other options available in the market.
Reason for Google Podcasts shut down
