They have also launched new public-private partnerships with the businesses so that they can advance new AI technology services to support network operators and a new partnership with France’s leading AI company, Mistral AI.
Brad Smith also says that – I’ll never forget the reaction of an FTC Commissioner who came up to me after I concluded the speech I gave in Washington, D.C. to launch these principles. He said, “If you had done this 10 years ago, I think you all probably would have avoided a lot of problems.”
The president of Microsoft announced this news on Monday at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The complete speech was a keynote speech and there were no follow-up questions for the same.
As per Microsoft- these new principles will play a significant role in the new investments and programs. Microsoft has announced and launched across Europe over the past two weeks. This will also include the $5.6 billion in new data centers and AI skilling programs. These programs will reach out to millions of people.

Braid Smith also said- “If they are training a model on our infrastructure if they are deploying it on our infrastructure, we recognize that their data is their data, we will not access it and use it to compete with the companies that are relying on our infrastructure,”.
In his speech, he talks about the five tenets that define the goals of Microsoft, including its role as an infrastructure and platform provider. These five tenets of Microsoft are:
- Responsibility to enable innovation and foster competition.
- Responsibilities begin by meeting our obligations under the law.
- We need to advance a broad array of AI partnerships.
- Commitment to partnership extends to customers, communities, and countries.
- We need to be proactive and constructive.
Microsoft announces ‘AI access principles’ are not the binding rules for the company. They can use them to argue for their proactive efforts to ensure competition in the market.
