Tim Cook Says Apple Will ‘Break New Ground’ in GenAI in 2024
In a meeting with his shareholders on Wednesday, Apple CEO Tim Cook said- ”Later this year, I look forward to sharing with you the ways we will break new ground in generative AI, another technology we believe can redefine the future,”.
Recently Apple has shelved its electric car project “Project Titan”. Cook previously said this “The mother of all projects:” With the news of Project Titan, everyone assumed that the company had shifted its focus to generative AI. The employees who were working on Project Titan were also suggested to shift to another AI project of the company.
During the company’s Q1 earnings call, Cook said Apple was internally working on the generative AI projects but it was taking slower.
“We believe it will unlock transformative opportunities for our users when it comes to productivity, problem-solving, and more,” Cook said at Apple’s annual shareholder meeting.

Recently many AI chatbots have been launched by their competitors in the markets. Microsoft and Google are already leading in the market of AI. So now Apple is definitely under pressure to showcase its seriousness towards generative AI with their upcoming projects. However, Cook has not gotten into the details about their upcoming AI projects but he has definitely showcased their focus towards it. As per different rumors and reports in the market, Apple will initially add AI features in IOS18, Mackbook 15, or other Apple products.
If we look at the report of Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, he said that Apple is planning to upgrade Siri and iOS built-in search tools. Also, they are exploring AI power features so that the users can automatically generate the slides of their presentations, and code suggestions in Xcode which is the app development platform of the company.

Cook has said that they have invested tremendous ‘time and effort’ towards generative AI. cook did not clear anything in his statement but he had assured the investors that the company is focusing on this side.
Tech lovers are now expecting something with the release of iOS18 in the coming time. However many industry insiders are assuming that the company will disclose Apple GenAI strategies at its annual Worldwide Developer Conference which is to be held in June. Apple’s entry into generative AI is definitely going to scale up the reach of its features.
