Google and Microsoft have recently released security updates for their users. With these security updates, users can now navigate their systems with increased performance and fewer bug issues. The latest Google and Microsoft security updates have squashed many serious bugs for its users.

Many times these updates will automatically be installed in your system when you close your browser. But it is always better to check for any updates and install the latest version so that you can get better performance and fewer security threats for your system.

Latest Microsoft security updates

On Tuesday, Microsoft released 73 patches (security updates) for their users. In these updates, two updates are regarding the security bypass issues that attackers are using.

The first one is CVE-2024-21412, an Internet Shortcut Files vulnerability with a CVSS score of 8.1. In this, the unauthorized attackers try to send a file to its targeted users so that they can bypass the security. Microsoft has said that it requires someone to click on the link then only it will affect the security.

The second update is regarding the CVE-2024-21351, a Windows Smart Screen security. It is regarding the Windows Smart Screen Security Feature Bypass Vulnerability. It was released on 13 Feb and recently been updated by Microsoft on 15 Feb.

 As per Microsoft -” The vulnerability allows a malicious actor to inject code into Smart Screen and potentially gain code execution, which could potentially lead to some data exposure, lack of system availability, or both.”

Apart from this another critical security update is CVE-2024-21413 regarding the Microsoft Outlook Remote Code Execution Vulnerability. “Successful exploitation of this vulnerability would allow an attacker to bypass the Office Protected View and open in editing mode rather than protected mode.”– said Microsoft.

To protect your data from this vulnerability users need to install the latest security updates. So the users are advised to check for all the recent updates and install them in your system.

Latest Google security updates

Google has released February updates regarding different security patch-level vulnerabilities. Android users who are using the Android 10 or above version may receive security updates and Google Pay system updates.

One of the most important flaws is CVE-2024-0032, which could lead to local escalation of privilege with no additional execution privileges needed – Said Google. It was impacting Android Open Source Project versions 11, 12, 12L, 13, 14.

Another major critical flaw is CVE-2024-0031, which is affecting Android Open Source Project versions 11, 12, 12L, 13, and 14. Google stated that-” The most severe vulnerability could lead to remote code execution with no additional execution privileges needed.” Android users are advised to check the latest security updates on their phones and Google Play Protect.

Note: The February security update is available for the Google Pixels range and Some Samsung devices in Galaxy the range.

Latest Google Chrome Security Updates:

Google has released 12 security fixes in their latest security update. The first is CVE-2024-1669, an out-of-bounds memory-access issue in Blink.

The other one is CVE-2024-1670, Use after free in Mojo. It is also a high-rated severe bug reported by a user.

Apart from this Google has released CVE-2024-1671(Medium), Inappropriate Implementation in Site, CVE-2024-1672: Inappropriate Implementation in Content Security Policy, and a few more. Any of these bugs are not used by the attackers in kind of security attacks. Make sure to check any kind of update available in your Chrome and install the latest version. You can check the Chrome updates on your Android phones and PC for better security.
