Met Gala 2024 theme is AI deep fakes
One of the biggest Red carpet events “Met Gala 2024” is here. On the first Monday of May, celebrities started arriving with their iconic fashion looks and everyone’s eyes were on them. But this year Met Gala hits differently. In this era of AI, the Met Gala theme has changed to “AI Deepfake Theme” instead of “Sleeping Beauties: The Garden of Time.”
Multiple AI Deepfake images of celebrities are getting viral over the internet. As soon as the event begins, the AI Deepfake Theme has just gone viral. Images of different celebrities including Katy Perry, Rihanna, and Selena Gomez are being posted by different users, even if they are not present there. These celebrities have not attended the Meta Gala but their images seem like they are present on the Red Carpet.
AI Deepflake images of Katty Perry, Rihana
A user has posted on X formerly Twitter an image of Katy Perry with a captain “Katy Perry. That’s it” with the Met Gala hashtag. The image seems to be so realistic with an iconic dress with “Sleeping Beauties: The Garden of Time themes. All the paparazzi are all around capturing her on the Red Carpet. After posting the image, within 3 hours, it gets over 288,000 likes and more than 9 million views.
At first glance, it looks like Katy has arrived at the Met Gala. But when you look in detail you find that the image is fake as has many similarities with the real event.

After a few minutes, another user posted an image of Perry, attending the Met Gala event. In that photo, she looked so surprised with the paparazzi and wearing a cord dress like a key for the Garden. The X user writes the caption “Katy Perry looks absolutely gorgeous on #MetGala 2024.”
This image of Perry looks as realistic with the same theme as the Met Gala 2024. But something feels off in this image. Her skirts and looks were looking unrealistic. The fans took a few minutes to identify that it was nothing but an AI deepflake image.
Rihana is famous for her iconic dresses on the Red Carpet. But as spotted by many people she skipped the event that night. But her fans made her attend the Met Gala event. A user on X has posted an image of Rihana writing “Rihanna attends The 2024 #MetGala #MetGala2024”. Her mermaid gown with shoulders balloon into a sculptural halo. The image got 2.6 million views in just a few hours.
Met Gala is an emotion for fashion lovers despite being just an event. But this year Met Gala with the AI Deepfake Theme has surprised the fans. The detailing of these images is just incredible but it still takes minutes to identify that these are unreal.
