Anthropic called it a model of the Claude 3 family which includes three states of art: Claude 3 Haiku, Claude 3 Sonnet, and Claude 3 Opus. Each model has “increasingly powerful performance,” but opus is the most powerful model.

The company states that -” Opus and Sonnet are now available to use in claude.ai and the Claude API which is now generally available in 159 countries. Haiku will be available soon.”

Setting The New Standards:

Claude 3 is the first multimodal Anthropic gen AI generation which means it can analyze both text and images. In the most common evaluation, benchmarks of AI systems, Opus has outperformed its peers. The company says “It exhibits near-human levels of comprehension and fluency on complex tasks,” You can find the performance of Opus in different evaluation benchmarks, with the below images. The Claude 3 models have also increased their performance capabilities in analysis forecasting, code generation, and other tasks. Being one step ahead of other GenAI chatbots, Claude 3 models can analyze multiple images in a single request (maximum up to 20). “Claude 3 tends to generate more expressive and engaging responses,” Anthropic states in a support article. “It is easier to prompt and steer compared to our legacy models. Users should find that they can achieve the desired results with shorter and more concise prompts.”

Have some Limits in Image processing:

Claude 3 model is being disabled from identifying people. The company also admits that the model struggles with some complex tasks like spatial reasoning and object counting. Anthropic also states that “the Claude 3 models show a more nuanced understanding of requests, recognize real harm, and refuse to answer harmless prompts much less often.”

As per the company, the Claude 3 model will initially support a 200,000-token context window, with select customers getting up to a 1-million-token context window (~700,000 words). It is with Google’s newest GenAI model, the above-mentioned Gemini 1.5 Pro, which also offers up to a million-token context window.
