Turnitin Laid Off Staff, Empowering AI-Driven Efficiency
With the evolution of AI, it is been, people are worried that generative AI will replace the job of humans. Keeping that in mind Turnitin, a plagiarism detector company has recently laid off many employees so far. However, they have still not cleared the exact number of employees affected by this.
In the event of 2023, the CEO of Turnitin announced that in the coming 18 months, “we will need 20% of those number of people,” referring to the engineering staff. “And we’ll be able to start hiring a lot of them out of high school versus four-year colleges — probably the same for sales and marketing functions,” he added.
Turnitin is a California-based company founded in 1998. The company is offering an advanced AI detection tool to distinguish AI-generated and human-written content. The main focus of the company is to check the content written by the students if it is “Original”.

The company sells its services to different schools and academic institutions to check the content written by the students. Also, it works with other partners like Coursera, Blackboard, and others.
