With their release of the beta version, xAI claims that their aim to release Grok is to ”Gather feedback and ensure we are building AI tools that maximally benefit all of humanity. We believe that it is important to design AI tools that are useful to people of all backgrounds and political views. We also want to empower our users with our AI tools, subject to the law. Our goal with Grok is to explore and demonstrate this approach in public.”- xAI.

With its release Grok is turning out to be a competitor of the OpeniAI model ChatGPT. Recently in this month, Musk filed a lawsuit against Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI. In his suit musk claimed that OpenAI has abandoned its startup goal. The initial goal of the model was regarding the human benefits but now it is working to gain profit.

Musk’s interest in generative AI can be seen when he said “he felt uncomfortable growing the carmaker into a leader in AI and robotics unless he had at least 25% voting control of the company.”

As per the resources, musk was previously enrolled with OpenAI but later in 2018, he made an exit from OpenAI Saying he had to focus on the project of Tesla. Even when he filed a lawsuit against Chatgpt, OpenAI said that “Musk was looking for “absolute control” by merging it with Tesla.”
