The US House has currently banned staffers from using Microsoft Copilot on any government-owned devices. The US House has taken this step for security concerns so that the confidential data will not be released to non-approved services.

House Chief Administrative Officer Catherine Szpindor recently sent a memo to congressional officers telling them that the AI chatbot is prohibited from use of government-owned devices, “due to the threat of leaking House data to non-House approved cloud services.” Copilot “will be removed from and blocked on all House Windows devices.”

However, Microsoft has responded to this step of the US House. The company said that they understand the requirements of governments for higher security tools and in the future they will release a more secure AI tool that the government can use.

One of the company spokespersons said that- we understand the requirements of Governments and “That’s why we announced a roadmap of Microsoft AI tools, like Copilot, that meet federal government security and compliance requirements that we intend to deliver later this year”.

Copilot is like a Virtual AI assistant introduced by Microsoft in the world of AI. Copilot was launched earlier this year. With this AI chatbot, users can create content like openAI ChatGPT and can also use it for research purposes. Microsoft has released its free and paid consumer version. They have also launched Paid services for businesses so that they can use them as per their requirements.
